Family postscript: Addie Cooper lived a long time and had a good life. She remained remarkably healthy for most of it. Although she received little formal education, she had uncommonly good common sense. She also had an independent, stubborn streak. She was a working wife and mother. But above all else, she was devoted to her family and we cherished her. These are enviable things; everyone should be so fortunate.
