Elizabeth Betty West

Elizabeth Betty West, 89, of Carmi, Illinois, died Sunday, December 27, 2015, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. She was born October 8, 1926, in Herrin, Illinois, the daughter of Oscar and Lily Cravens. She was married to Joseph L. West on November 23, 1946, and he preceded her in death on June 24, 2014.

Betty was a farm wife and worked alongside her husband and son on the family farm. She enjoyed gardening, quilting, crocheting, cross stitching, and dancing. She was an avid sports fan, especially when in came to college basketball.

Survivors include her son, Terry West of Crossville; and granddaughter Christy (Tim) Churchwell. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers; and two sisters.

Visitation is 5-7 pm, Wednesday, December 30, 2015, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi. Funeral is 10 am, Thursday, December 31, 2015, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi with burial in Kuykendall Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Childrens Hospital and will be accepted at Cook Funeral Chapel.
