Jerry Lee Howell

Jerry Lee Howell, 55, of Carmi, Illinois, died Sunday, January 31, 2016, at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. He was born February 22, 1960, in Benton, Illinois, the son of Odum and Maxine (Lowe) Howell. He was married to Dora (Nance) Howell, and she survives.

Jerry was a truck driver and worked as a shunt driver at Toyota Indiana. He was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Carmi. Jerry was well-known in the tri-state area as a martial arts instructor. He enjoyed weight training, shooting, and fishing. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing video games. Jerry was known for his quick wit and sense of humor.

Survivors include his mother, Maxine Howell; wife, Dora; son Odum Odie; daughter Sarah (Paul) Brown; sister Nancy Harvey; grandson Robert Brown, all of Carmi.

He is preceded in death by his father, Odum B. Howell.

Visitation is 5-8 pm, Friday, February 5th, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi. His remains will be cremated following visitation, and a gathering of family and friends will be at a later date.
