John Edward Large

John Edward Large, 75, of Carmi, died Sunday, January 26, 2014, at his home. He was born January 5, 1939, in Carmi, the son of William and Lucy (Nelson) Large. He was married to Faye (Mills) Large on December 21, 1969, and she survives.

John was a retired pipefitter/plumber (local #136), member of the Carmi Church of God and a Navy veteran. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, playing cards, watching basketball and demolition derbies, his family, church and life in general.

Survivors include his wife, Faye; sons Keith (Jeannie) Large, Todd (Kayci) Large; daughter Jessica (Trey) Mason; grandchildren Jordan Large, Koby Large, Saylor Mason, Akilah Large, Kipton Large; sister Wilma Rumsey, all of Carmi.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Bill Large; sisters Carol Williams and Barbara Jean Camfield.

Visitation and funeral are at the Carmi Church of God, with visitation 5-7 pm, Tuesday,January 28th and funeral at 10 am Wednesday, January 29th, with burial in Centerville Cemetery north of Carmi.

Memorials may be made to the Carmi Church of God.

Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.
