Lyndell B. Brown Obituary (1926

Lyndell B. Brown, 90, of Carmi, Illinois, died on her birthday, Monday, March 21, 2016, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi. She was born March 21, 1926, in Sacramento, Illinois, the daughter of Arnot and Pearl (Draper) McArthy. She was married to Lawrence R. Brownie Brown in July of 1949, and he survives. She was a devoted farm wife, mother, and grandmother, and was considered a Martha Stewart of her day. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining her grandchildren with various electronic gizmos. Lyndell was a 4-H Leader, and a reading volunteer for the Carmi Schools. Antiques were among her favorite pastimes. She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Carmi. Survivors include her devoted husband, Lawrence R. Brown; sons Richard (Maricar) Brown, David (Sara) Brown, all of Carmi; daughter Carolyn (Jeff) Hodge of Paris, Illinois; brothers Keith (Anna May) McArthy, Lowell (Sue) McArthy, all of Norris City, Illinois; sister Evelyth (Bill) Wright of Evansville, Indiana; grandchildren Logan (Jared) Anderson, Ann (Eugene) Sisneros, Cole (Tara) Hodge, Robin (Joe) Kingery, Claire Brown, Alexander Brown, Raven Brown; great grandchildren Layla Sisneros, Ethan Hodge, Bryce Hodge, Harper Anderson, Andie Anderson. She is preceded in death by her parents; and brothers Darrol McArthy and Royal McArthy. Visitation is 5-8 pm, Friday, March 25th, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Carmi. Funeral is 10 am, Saturday, March 26th at Cook Chapel with burial in Kuykendall Cemetery.
