Verla Louise Fulkerson

Verla Lucille Fulkerson, 84, of New Haven, IL, died Monday, September 29, 2014, at Wabash Christian Retirement Center in Carmi, IL. She was born June 15, 1930, in Heralds Prairie, White County, IL, the daughter of Frank and Lucy (Hale) Martin. She married Dayton Bill Fulkerson on March 4, 1947, and he preceded her in death on May 19, 2010.

Verla was a homemaker and had previously worked at a grocery clerk. In her younger years, she played piano at her church and most recently attended Bruce Chapel Church near Carmi.

Survivors include daughter in law Martha Fulkerson; brother Ray (Wilma) Martin all of Norris City, IL; sister Fay (Ernie) Clifford of Nashville, TN; grandchildren Scott (Tonya) Price, Terah (David)Shafer, Lee Ann Fulkerson, Heath Fulkerson, Cody Fulkerson, Baley Lee Ruth Fulkerson; great grandchildren Ashley (Scott) Biggerstaff, Amber Price, Storm Hawa, Drake Hawa, Chase Fulkerson, Cade Schou, Jaylee Fulkerson; great great grandchild Braylynn Biggerstaff; and Verlas dear friend Kim Smith.

Visitation is 5-7 pm, Wednesday, October 1, 2014, at the Presbyterian Church in New Haven. Funeral is at 10 am, Thursday, October 2, 2014, at the Presbyterian Church in New Haven with burial in Union Ridge Cemetery near New Haven.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or Wabash Christian Retirement Center Alzheimers Unit.
